You know that scene
at the beginning of a Sofia Coppola movie when we’re introduced to a fascinating but totally despondent male character, and he’s going about his tedious daily routine, and we can get a clear sense from something as simple as the way he brushes his teeth that he’s lost all control over who he is and what he’s doing?
